I prefer this Butchers Arms to its Llandaff Road namesake, not least because this one seems to be hidden away at the far end of the High Street in Llandaff by the Cathedral.
I think this pub is has lovely atmosphere to it and you get the real sense that it never gets rowdy with drunkards. The small beer garden is a great little place to sit on a warm summers evening or if you're a smoker. The always seem to have a smile and I would definitely visit the Butchers Arms again, 4 Stars. -

The best little pub in Llandaff village, The Butchers consists of 3 interlinked rooms: a small tap bar, the lounge, and the rear snug, which in turn leads out to a secluded, walled beer garden. Regular beers are Bass and HB, with guest beers always on tap. Light pub grub is served.
Originally a Butchers Shop in 1841, it was converted to the aptly named pub in 1880. The remnants of a stable at the back imply a former role as a coach house. The latin on the pub sign translates as We're all equal under the hooves of sheep and cattle.
The walls are covered by upwards of 150 framed photographs, prints and cartoons of Welsh sporting heroes, mainly from the fields of rugby, cricket and soccer. Some are signed with dedications. A sports fanatic could spend happy hours delighting in this gallery. The outside window is engraved with the logo of Hancocks Brewery, the now defunct old Cardiff Brewer.
Books and newspapers are scattered around, but the Butchers is such a friendly place that you are unlikely to find the time to read. -

This is a friendly, pleasant pub in the leafy Llandaff area of Cardiff, its name originating from the building's former life as a butcher's shop.
Inside it's made up of main linked rooms: a small bar, the main lounge area, and a snug at the back. Customers tend to be fairly varied, mainly locals, but without too much cliquishness to put off non-regulars.
There's also a secluded beer garden out at the back behind the snug, which is popular during the summer. Around the walls of the pub you'll find a gallery of framed cartoons, prints and photographs mainly depicting famous Welsh sporting personalities.
This place has a good bit of character, plenty of warmth, and is a great spot for a drink - they also serve food, although I haven't tried it. -

This is a great Llandaff Village local. Originally a Butchers Shop in 1841, it was converted to the aptly named pub in 1880.
The pub lies close to the Cathedral, with a large free car park a short distance away. It is fantastic in the summer, as it has a suntrap of a beer garden at the rear. The clientele is less studenty and more mature. The kinda place to go for a chat rather than a mad one.
The family run pub is popular for meal times, especially Sunday Roasts. They serve good real ale. There isn't much on the entertainment side of things, though sometimes they will get some live music in. -

this pub takes the biscuit waited 15 mins to get a round the 3 bar girls who thought they where wags did not want to serve me it was all most as if i was invisable.would never go back there again please please get rid of the wanna be wags that work friday evenings or send them on a customer service courseup the road u got malsters much much friendly
